What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is like renting storage space on the Internet in whcih to store your website's files. Web Hosting also provides you with email mailboxes (email addresses) for your domain.

What Is A Domain Name?

Your domain name is your website address, eg. hartdesign.co.nz.

What Is A UDAI Number?

UDAI stands for Unique Domain Authentication Identifier. This unique code serves as a PIN code for your domain. It is made up of eight case-sensitive letters and numbers, and is allocated to your domain name upon registration.

UDAI numbers are sometimes called EEP Codes or Authorisation Codes.

Set Up: Outlook 2010

Open Outlook 2010, click the yellow File tab, then click the Account Settings button, and click again on the dropdown Account Settings...  

To create a NEW email account:

  • Select New... Ensure Manually configure server settings is selected. Hit Next
  • Ensure Internet E-mail is selected

  • Enter your name and email address
  • Ensure Account Type is set to POP3
  • Your Incoming Mail Server is mail.yourdomain.co.nz (replace "yourdomain.co.nz" with your website address, for example "hartdesign.co.nz")
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is also mail.yourdomain.co.nz

IMPORTANT: 

  • Do NOT use the Test Account Settings... feature  

IMPORTANT:

  • Click on More Settings... and then Outgoing Server
  • Look for the check box for My server requires authentication. This should be checked. Ensure the following option is set to Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  • Outgoing Mail Server port should be 25 (or 26 if this fails -- rare)
  • You can then Finish your set up

Set Up: Windows Live Mail

Open Windows Live Mail, hit the Accounts button, then hit the Email button (it has a green plus symbol).

  • Enter your name, email address and password (supplied by Hart Design) as directed. Ensure Manually configure server settings is selected. Hit Next

  • Ensure Server Type is set to POP
  • Your Incoming Mail Server is mail.yourdomain.co.nz (replace "yourdomain.co.nz" with your website address, for example "hartdesign.co.nz")
  • Imcoming mail server Port should be 110
  • Authenticate using: Clear text
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is also mail.yourdomain.co.nz
  • Outgoing mail server Port should be 25 (or if account set up fails at the conclusion of the remaining steps in this guide, try 26)
  • Select Requires authentication
  • Hit Next and the Finish, then follow the steps below this picture...

IMPORTANT:

  • Select your account from the list displayed, hit the Properties button
  • Click on the Servers tab
  • Near the bottom, below Outgoing Mail Server, ensure My server requires authentication is checked, and click on Settings...
  • Ensure the following option is set to Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  • Outgoing Mail Server port should be 25 (or 26 if this fails -- rare)
  • You can then Finish your set up

Set Up: Outlook 2007

Open Outlook 2007, select Account Settings... from the Tools menu

To create a NEW email account:

  • Select New... and ensure the option Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP is selected
  • Enter your name, email address and password (supplied by Hart Design) as directed. Ensure Manually configure server settings is selected. Hit Next
  • Ensure Internet E-mail is selected

  • Ensure Account Type is set to POP3
  • Your Incoming Mail Server is mail.yourdomain.co.nz (replace "yourdomain.co.nz" with your website address, for example "hartdesign.co.nz")
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is also mail.yourdomain.co.nz

IMPORTANT:

Set Up: Outlook Express 6

Open Outlook Express, select Accounts... from the Tools menu

To create a NEW email account:

  • Select Add ยป Mail... and follow the prompts, entering your name and email address
  • Ensure you have POP3 selected as your incoming mail server type

  • Your Incoming Mail Server is mail.yourdomain.co.nz (replace "yourdomain.co.nz" with your website address, for example "hartdesign.co.nz")
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is also mail.yourdomain.co.nz

  • For Account Name, use your email address
  • For Password, enter the password we've provided you with
  • Hit Next, then Finish

IMPORTANT: your server required authentication 

  • Select your email account from the list and hit the Properties button, and view the Servers tab
  • Ensure you have checked My server requires authentication

Set Up: Apple Mail

Open Mail, select Preferences... from the Mail menu and go to the Accounts tab

To create a NEW email account:

  • Hit the plus-sign (+), bottom left of the Preferences window
  • Enter you Name and Email Address, and enter the Password that we've supplied you with
  • For Account Type choose POP
  • For Description, enter your name
  • For Incoming Mail Server enter mail.yourdomain.co.nz (replace "yourdomain.co.nz" with your website address, for example "hartdesign.co.nz")
  • For Username, ensure your full email address is used
  • Hit Continue and accept any message which may pop up
  • For Outgoing Mail Server Description, enter your Company's name 
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is also mail.yourdomain.co.nz
  • Hit Continue and Create to finish

Troubleshooting:

Not working? Try these steps...

Open Mail, select Preferences... from the Mail menu and go to the Accounts tab. Click on your account from the list, and go to the Advanced tab.

  • Near the bottom, ensure that Port is set to 110, and the Use SSL is NOT checked
  • Ensure that Authentication is set to Password

Or, to edit an EXISTING email account:

  • Select your email account from the  Accounts list (left of Preferences window)
  • View the Account Information tab
  • For Incoming Mail Server enter mail.yourdomain.co.nz (replace "yourdomain.co.nz" with your website address, for example "hartdesign.co.nz")
  • For Username, ensure your full email address is used
  • Enter the Password that we've supplied you with
  • Your Outgoing Mail Server is also mail.yourdomain.co.nz

Accessing Your Emails in a Browser

Out on the road? Want to log into your email account online?

This is called Webmail, and if your web hosting and email services are provided by Hart Design, you can access Webmail by typing into your browser: yourdomain.co.nz/webmail

Hint: generally, we add a link at the foot of your website to your Webmail login page.

Enter your email address and password, as supplied to you when we first went live with your new website.
